Initial works to replace the Forster Main Beach fence will get underway soon.
On Monday 26 May workers will be tasked with repairing the concrete apron.
The work to replace the actual fence will start in July with an end date yet to be confirmed.
The contract for the work was awarded to XINC Engineering and the funding will come from Council’s 2024-2025 General Fund surplus.
Pedestrians are asked to exercise caution in the area and observe worksite signage.
The fence is approximately 280 metres long and is estimated to be over 70 years old.
Council has maintained the fence over the years however the harsh coastal environment has seen the fence decline to the extent that it is failing and no longer fit for purpose.
