Pets and animals
We love companion animals and our community is passionate about caring for them.
We try our best to keep animals out of the pounds, and the pound is a place of last resort for your pets. Our pounds do meet our need to keep dangerous and abandoned dogs off the streets.
We work with our community, local animal shelters and vets to ensure:
- people look after their pets
- obey the law
- are safe from dangerous dogs in public places
The bottom line is - when pet owners do the right thing everyone wins – the animals, owners and the community. The pounds are empty and pets are being cared for.
It's important all pet owners know their responsibilities under NSW legislation.
This legislation also provides us with specific responsibilities for companion animals, dangerous and stray animals and the operation of pounds.
