Alan Tickle began his service in Local Government with the former Greater Taree City Council from 2004-2016 after first arriving in the Manning area in 1977 during his career in banking.
He commenced his specialist role as a financial planner in 1990 becoming self-employed in 2008.
His tertiary qualifications are related to banking and finance and includes a Diploma in Financial Planning and post graduate accreditations.
He served as Deputy Mayor and was also Deputy Chair of the Board of Mid Coast Water at the time of the amalgamation proclamation in 2016
While he did not seek election to Mid Coast Council immediately after the amalgamation, his passion for Local Government remained which prompted his subsequent election in 2021.
During the period from 2016 to 2021 Alan wpras active in the Manning- Great Lakes area and instrumental in the formation of the Hallidays Point & District Community Liaison & progress Association Inc “CLAPA”
He also took up the challenge of driving the health agenda for this region after chairing a public meeting in Taree that called out resourcing issues at the Manning Base Hospital. Alan then established the Manning Great Lakes Community Health Action Group Inc and as the inaugural President, mobilized the community and a very active committee in a campaign that has lead to increased resourcing for the hospital.
Alan remains a member of the committee but has stepped down from the leadership role.
His other community interests include Rotary for which he has been honoured with the award of Paul Harris Fellow. Alan is also a member of the Lions Club of Hallidays Point in addition to Rotary Club of Taree on Manning.
He is a Life Member of Manning Junior Cricket Association and a Patron of Taree Arts Council.
He has a passion for sport and the arts.
For the past 15 years Alan has organised the Hallidays Point Carols in the Park, officiates as the ANZAC Day Bugler and appeared in several productions in the late 90’s and early 2000s at the Manning Entertainment Centre.
His passion for Sport, was mainly in Cricket as both an administrator and coach, which included the North Coast side that won the NSW Country Championship in 2007 and the JS White under 21 Championship the previous year.
Local Government Roles
Alan is committed to assisting the Mayor in developing a team of Councillors who will listen to community concerns while being mindful of the immense challenges that faces local government in regional areas, where funding is simply not adequate to maintain our vast road and bridge network.
He is mindful of the balance needed between environmental responsibility and the challenges of housing and economic prosperity across our region.
Alan has been appointed by Local Government NSW to the NSW Roads & Transport Directorate and serves as a member of the Joint Regional Planning Panel.
