MidCoast Council is advising the public that Smiths Lake water levels have reached the trigger level, and the lake will be mechanically opened tomorrow (Tuesday, 28 April).
Boaters are strongly advised to remove their vessels from the lake prior to the opening to avoid the risk of stranding. Once the manual opening is underway, boats left in the lake may become stranded due to the changes in water levels.
The area surrounding the opening will be closed to the public. Barriers will be installed to restrict access, and Council staff will be on-site to ensure public safety. Please adhere to all instructions from Council staff.
For safety reasons all boat ramps and vehicular access to the beach will be closed during the opening. This is to prevent any potential hazards or accidents during the process.
Residents and visitors are urged to stay clear of the area, follow all safety instructions, and monitor Council updates via the website and social media for the latest information.
