MidCoast Councillors and senior staff members are about half-way through visits to 15 communities across the MidCoast, with more opportunities to attend a Community Conversation in June and July.

The recent severe rain and flooding event has meant some Community Conversations have had to be rescheduled. This was necessary not only to allow time for flood water to recede, but also for Council staff to carry out emergency work and begin recovery operations.

The Community Conversations provide Councillors and senior staff an opportunity to visit different localities, talk about the work Council is planning, and hear from community members about their concerns.  The remaining Community Conversations will include a flood recovery update for affected communities, including Lansdowne, Harrington and Gloucester.

This round of Conversations also features a short presentation on Council’s approach to tackling road conditions, strengthening financial sustainability, and improving the customer experience.

Many communities visited so far have been voicing concerns about speed limits on some roads. While Council does manage street signage, it does not have any authority to determine speed limits.  You can send a request for a speed limit review directly to the NSW Government at https://www.transport.nsw.gov.au/roadsafety/topics-tips/speeding/have-your-say/speed-limits-have-your-say

Upcoming Conversations include:

  • Lansdowne: Lansdowne Community Hall, Tuesday 3 June, 5:30 – 7pm
  • Pacific Palms: Pacific Palms Surf Life Saving Club, Tuesday 10 June, 5:30 – 7pm
  • Harrington: Harrington Function Centre: new date - Wednesday 11 June, 6 – 7:30pm
  • Gloucester: Gloucester Council Chambers, Thursday 19 June, 2:30 – 4pm
  • Stroud: Stroud School of Arts Hall, Thursday 19 June, 5:30 – 7pm
  • Tea Gardens: Hawks Nest Community Centre: new date - Tuesday 29 July, 2:30 – 4pm

Everybody is welcome to attend, with community groups, schools and organisations encouraged to send along a representative.

Questions can be asked impromptu or provided in advance at midcoast.nsw.gov.au/conversations
