Billabong Park Footbridge reopened

In great news for residents and the many visitors to the Gloucester region, the Billabong Park Footbridge has finally been reopened.

The bridge was first damaged during the 2021 flood event and following that, there was a lengthy delay with the insurance process.

The tender for the replacement of the bridge was awarded late last year to Jacobs Building who have now completed the work.

MidCoast Council’s Director of Liveable Communities, Paul De Szell, said the reopening was a great outcome following the latest flood event in May, from which many communities are still recovering, including Gloucester.

“It is some great news during a difficult time,” he said.

“It is fantastic to see this iconic landmark back in place and able to be used by the community and the visitors alike.”

The footbridge replacement was made possible thanks to the Australian and NSW Governments 2021 Community Local Infrastructure Recovery Program.
