Bulahdelah Waste Management Centre
Current update: We are still experiencing collection disruptions for household problem waste items at all MidCoast Community Recycling and Waste Management Centres. This is a state-wide disruption caused by a major fire at Cleanaway’s processing facility for problem wastes in St Marys, Sydney. The NSW EPA has reported that repairs to the facility are likely to take a couple of months. We ask that customers store household problem waste items such as paint, gas bottles, motor oils, household batteries and fluorescent globes in a safe place until services can recommence. For more information about household problem waste items visit here. Staff at our facilities may have to turn customers away if there is no capacity for the waste presented. It is best to call the waste management centre directly to be sure certain waste types can be accepted. Find a MidCoast waste facility here. We will continue to keep you updated. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
Bulahdelah Waste Management Centre accepts most forms of domestic waste not suitable for kerbside collection. JR Richards and Sons and their sub-contractors operate this waste facility.
Bulahdelah is a waste Transfer Station for residents to dispose of their excess waste. Unlike the Landfill where waste is buried, the Transfer Station is a drop-off centre where all waste is separated. NB Trucks with general (non recyclable) or unsorted waste will not be accepted and will need to use another Landfill.
The Centre includes:
- A Transfer Station for domestic waste
- Reviva - 'Tip Shop'
The State Government Waste Levy requires a contribution for every tonne of waste we receive at the facility.
Bulahdelah Transfer Station is for residential recyclable materials.
- Household recyclable materials can be dropped off free of charge
- EPA approved problem waste like paint, batteries, electronic waste and scrap metal are recycled and can be dropped off for free. Click here for more information.
- Green waste is mulched
- The 'Tip Shop' receives useful items. A bargain can usually be found.
- Mattresses are stripped and recycled. Refer to fees and charges for prices.
Please note: Household quantities of chemicals can be disposed of at a NSW EPA Chemical Clean Out event. Small quantities can be taken to a MidCoast Waste Management Centre for disposal for FREE.
Contact Council's Waste Management team on (02) 7955 7777 for any further inquiries.
Bulahdelah Waste Management Centre does not have weighbridge. Driveway attendants are bound by Council to charge the appropriate fee based on your waste type and vehicle description. All loads are treated as full loads in accordance with state & federal regulations.
Disposal fees cannot be altered or varied in any way.
