School holiday inspiration for locals
Published on 24 September 2024
Whether you want something free, natural, thrilling or creative, there’s so much to explore in your own backyard in the MidCoast these Spring holidays.
MidCoast Council’s Barrington Coast website is packed with school holiday ideas and local events as well as a new free event series for locals called ‘Barrington Coast Explore Days’.
Bring the family along to Cattai Wetlands for the first ever Barrington Coast Explore Day. MidCoast Council’s Natural Systems team will help you experience this amazing natural reserve. There will be guided tours, plant identification games, a water bug activity, birding talks and a free sausage sizzle. Please wear closed-in shoes, a hat, long pants and bring a water bottle. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Arrive on Thursday 10 October, 10am – 1pm, there’s no need to book.
“Barrington Coast Explore Days are designed to help locals get outdoors and enjoy our many amazing parks and reserves,” said Director of Liveable Communities, Paul De Szell.
“We manage thousands of hectares of reserves and natural areas across our Council area and have responsibility for a number of very special places, including Cattai Wetlands.”
The Barrington Coast website has a comprehensive list of parks and reserves, walks, waterfalls, beaches, swimming holes, local events, and a dedicated school holiday section. Find out more at www.barringtoncoast.com.au.
MidCoast Council Libraries can also provide holiday inspiration with its jampacked program of free school holiday activities. Choose from drama, craft, art, and science workshops, movie screenings, bingo and trivia. There’s no need to stick to your local library, but booking is essential, so head to www.midcoast.nsw.gov.au/Get-involved/Whats-on.
