Discover the fascinating stories and history of the MidCoast as our libraries celebrate History Week from 3 – 11 September.

Join the Great Lakes Museum at Forster Library on Monday 5 September for a discussion about pioneering days in Bungwahl and Nabiac.

On Tuesday 6 September, Hallidays Point Library will host local author Sarah Baker, who will share her new children’s picture book, ‘The Pearl Beach Bakery’. The book features our beautiful MidCoast beaches as a back drop to her story.

MidCoast Stories will host a walk around Old Bar, which is rich in history. During the walk on Wednesday 7 September, stories of Old Bar’s early days will be shared. Hear tales about the Old Bar Airstrip, the elusive Mud Bishop, POW Lloyd Moule and long-time entertainment venue ‘Badgers’. You’ll also learn about Old Bar Reserve, the history of the surf clubs and the heroic rescue of the SS Urana crew.

Come along to Taree Library on Saturday 10 September to learn how to find and date old photographs. In this webinar presented by the National Library, you’ll discover how to find family photos and piece together dates and places from the many clues they contain.

Round out the week by visiting Harrington Library to view their display on the history of Harrington.

Light refreshments will be provided at some events and bookings are essential.
