Holiday safely and support MidCoast businesses

MidCoast businesses are ensuring COVID-safe plans are in place as they prepare for a bumper October school holiday period, with solid accommodation bookings across the region.

Many businesses are reporting much stronger business over this quarter than previously, as visitors, largely from NSW, flock to our region because of travel restrictions and border closures.

“Coastal regions are reporting accommodation is heavily booked for the upcoming spring school holiday period, and this is reflected across the region, with Gloucester providers indicating they are also heavily booked,” said Council’s Manager Growth, Economic Development and Tourism, Deb Tuckerman.

“This is wonderful news for businesses and the MidCoast region, keeping our economy strong and protecting local jobs.”

Local businesses are proactively ensuring their COVID-safe plans are up to date and full measures are in place to protect everyone, with MidCoast Council assisting with free visits and producing a video to guide businesses in implementing their COVID-safe plans.

And locals are being asked to support local business by being patient during the busy holiday period, as many businesses will be extremely busy. Restrictions means that they will need to limit numbers on their premises, and keep sign-in records for all customers.

“It’s everyone’s responsibility to be COVID-safe, to maintain social distancing and abide by all COVID regulations when in public places,” said Ms Tuckerman.

The COVID Safe Check-In is a new feature on the Service NSW app which provides a contactless method – a QR code – to record your visit to COVID Safe businesses. Visit for more information.
