Post flood - Weekly maintenance, patching and repairs

We are making our way around our road network with temporary patch repairs as well as assessing and planning for major reconstructions.

Unfortunately, we simply cannot reconstruct every road that needs it. We plan our program years in advance and when a major event like the flood occurs, we have to re-evaluate our plans on short notice.

Our roads are prioritised based on their condition, but also the location and level of traffic using the road.

In the meantime, we work to make the roads as safe as possible. Patching potholes is the quickest, most cost effective way to ensure a road is safe for users in the interim.

We know our community is concerned about us filling potholes and moving on, but these repairs aren’t intended to be permanent, they are designed to improve the safety of the road until we can get back and do a more permanent repair.

Unfortunately with 3599 kilometres of roads in our network it takes us longer than we would like to get to a more permanent repair.

This page will continue to be updated on a weekly basis, to show where our maintenance teams will be working, however, these plans are reliant on weather conditions and are subject to change should another road be prioritised.
