Joe Rider road safety campaign

‘Joe Rider’ will be back from 17-21 October 2022.

Can you be a Joe Rider? If you own and ride a motorcycle, we’d love to hear from you. We need volunteers in all corners of our LGA, including Tea Gardens, Hawks Nest, Gloucester, Forster and Taree. Wherever you live in MidCoast, we’d love to hear from you.

Joe Rider is a motorcycle awareness campaign which encourages drivers to look out for motorcycles to reduce the number of SMIDSY (sorry mate I didn’t see you) collisions.  The volunteers wear the bright yellow Joe Rider vests as they ride in our LGA each day.  You can ride alone, with a mate, or as a group.  When motorists see a Joe Rider, they report the sighting and go in the prize draw.

As a volunteer, we will work out the times and places you ride in collaboration with our Road Safety Officer.  You can ride once in the week or ride daily.

It’s a great opportunity to help improve the safety of riding on our roads. Last time we held this campaign it was very popular. People love spotting Joe Rider. So, you’re doing something important for the community.  We will provide refreshment vouchers so you can take a break during your ride.
