Lost your pet?

Lost an animal?

If you have lost your pet or livestock, contact us with your microchip or tag number. We will record it on the register as being lost. This may prevent your pet from being stolen.

We will check with our Companion Animals Officer to see if your animal has been located, and is being cared for.

If your pet has no microchip, check with your vet or on social media such as Facebook, as it may have been handed in to the vet or advertised on Facebook.

To see if we have your lost pet, please visit the Lost Animal Register.

Lost Animal Register

To help reunite pets with owners or find them a new home, we've created a register of the animals in our care.

Is your pet pictured here? Email our Rangers and quote the Council impound number.

Do you know the owner of an animal here? Please let them know, and contact us, quoting the Council impound number. Be aware that we cannot discuss matters concerning a particular animal with any person other than the owner (under Section 89 Companion Animals Act).

Please note that not all the impounded animals are shown here.

We don’t post animals in our care on this register if:

  • the animal is dangerous
  • the animal is the subject of a legal action or order under the Companion Animals Act.

These entries in the register below remain online here for at least 28 days. If space permits, the animal may remain in our care while we search for the owner. They may also be available for direct adoption though Council, or rehomed through one of our partnering animal shelters.

  • To place a save/rescue for any animal currently listed in the Lost Animal Register, the Rescue Group must have an exemption under Clause 17(c) of the Companion Animals Regulation 2018.
  • Email rangers@midcoast.nsw.gov.au to discuss your interest in rehoming the animal.

Should you wish to have the animal assessed prior to making a decision, Rangers can facilitate access to your representative for that purpose.
