The Bucketts Way, Stratford
As part of our focus on improving infrastructure across the region, reconstruction works are underway along two sections of The Bucketts Way near Stratford and Forbesdale. The project kicked off late-June with drainage works, and will recommence late-July with road reconstruction works which are due for completion late-December (weather permitting).
In the first section of 1.7km, works begin just north of the Avon River Bridge at Stratford, and continue through to 700m north of the railway overpass. The second section of 2.2km extends from Gloucester Tops Road through to Faulkland Road.
This important project includes:
- Stormwater drainage improvements and culvert construction
- Widening of the road pavement in places
- Road reconstruction
- Finishing with a bitumen seal, guardrail and line marking
The road will remain open to through-traffic however lane closures will be required and traffic control will be in place. Motorists can expect short delays and are asked to observe all roadside signage and reduced speed limits.
As with all roadworks, unfavourable weather and unforseen underground issues can cause delays. Check back here for updated information as the project progresses.
Along with a smoother and safer travel route, these works deliver on our value-for-money approach, extending the life of the road and minimising on-going maintenance costs. The project is part of Stage 1 of the Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program, being funded from the Restart NSW Fund Act 2011 and the National Land Transport Act 2014, together with MidCoast Council’s General Fund.
