Stroud Showground Improvements
As part of our work with the Stroud Showground Management Committee to restore and upgrade facilities damaged during the 2015 flood event, a multi-purpose building is currently being constructed.
We've also undertaken a number of repairs to other facilities including the completion of the tennis courts and clubhouse upgrade in June 2019.
Funding has been provided by the NSW State Government Natural Disaster Recovery and Relief Program for the repair and renewal of showground infrastructure.
In consultation with Stroud community groups including the Stroud Showground Management committee in February 2017, it was agreed that the showground and the wider community would benefit greatly from the construction of a multi-purpose building on the grounds.
Further consultation with the community in October 2018 led to the development of a concept design and floor plan of a 1400m2 steel portal frame building which will cater for a variety of local community and sporting groups and will include a bookable space for functions.
The design and floorplan was completed in consultation with Stroud community groups including the showground committee.
The building will consist of 847m2 of enclosed area featuring a multi-use pavilion, commercial kitchen, kiosk, bar and coolroom, ticket office, male, female and disabled access toilets.
It will also have a verandah running around the building perimeter, providing extra covered outdoor space.
The project is being delivered by a local contractor using local subcontractors and will be managed by MidCoast Council.
We expect the project to be completed in April 2020.
