Primrose Street, Wingham
Road rehabilitation works along a 360m section of Primrose Street in Wingham commenced early-April, and will continue over 6 months, weather permitting.
The project will be delivered in two distinct phases to minimise disruption to residents, businesses and local traffic:
Phase 1 (April - early-September) - Canget to Farqhuar Street - rehabilitation and resurfacing of the road pavement, and replacement of deteriorated kerb on the eastern side of Primrose Street. Work will take place 7am - 5pm weekdays, and 8am - 1pm on Saturdays. Driveway access may be restricted at times, however crews will liaise with affected property owners as required to minimise inconvenience.
Phase 2 (early-September - end-October) - Farquhar to Isabella Street - rehabilitation and resurfacing of the road pavement, new line-marking, and improvements to the general amenity of the streetscape. Work will take place outside of regular business hours, including weekends, to minimise disruption to nearby businesses and their customers.
In both phases lane closures, short detours and parking restrictions can be expected, and local motorists are reminded to be alert to changed conditions and roadworks signage while crews are on site. It is expected both phases will be completed by the end of October 2020, weather permitting.
As with any roadworks, timings can change. Please check back here for further updates.
Future works: These works are stage 1 of an extensive road improvement program which will roll out in the Wingham CBD over the next 2 years. The current works in Primrose Street will be complemented by the construction of a new roundabout at the Primrose/Farquhar Street intersection in stage 2, expected to be undertaken towards the end of 2020.
