Little Cedar Party Creek Bridge

As part of our focus on improving infrastructure across the region, construction works to replace Little Cedar Party Bridge are now underway, with the planned closure of Comboyne Road in place from Thursday 9 January.  It is anticipated the project will continue for approximately 5 months.

Along with replacing the bridge, road approaches on both sides will be reconstructed to align with the wider bridge.

Detour in place:

For safety and to complete the project as efficiently as possible, a road closure in the vicinity of the bridge - between Mooral Creek Road and Shorts Road - is required for the duration of the works. A recently maintained detour route using Shorts Road, Cedar Party Road and Youngs Road is now in place, and its condition will continue to be monitored for safety and performance. The clearly signposted detour route is shown here(PDF, 1MB).

Please observe all signage and reduced speed limits, and allow additional travel time while the detour is operating. Please also be aware that the detour route is unsealed and narrow in places, and should be travelled with caution.

For residents within the closed section (Mooral Creek Road to Shorts Road) access to properties will be maintained (from the closure point on either side of the bridge site).

Emergency access:

Commencement of these works follows the installation last month of a side-track at the site of the existing bridge to facilitate access in the event of an emergency. The side-track will be managed by traffic control and its use limited to emergency vehicles, along with locals requiring emergency access at short notice.

Outcome:

The outcome will be a safer travel route accommodating two-way traffic, increased loading, and reduced on-going maintenance costs. By reinstating the bridge at a slightly elevated level, flood immunity is also improved.

Please check back here to stay updated as the project progresses.
