Burrell Creek Bridge replacement
The project involved replacing the existing single lane timber structure with a modern, two lane concrete bridge. Road approaches on both sides were also reconstructed to align with the new bridge providing a safer, wider and more seamless travel route. To mimimise disruption and keep the road operational during the construction period, a temporary side track / road crossing was provided for public access.
Works to construct the new concrete bridge and associated roadworks were completed late-July 2020, with the road re-opening to traffic on Friday 31 July.
This project was funded through the $100Million Road Upgrade program, which aims to improve the roads that connect our communities. Part of our focus with the program is to replace ageing timber bridges across the region, not only for improved safety outcomes but to reduce on-going maintenance costs associated with these structures.
