Avalon Road Krambach (stage 2)
Road rehabilitation is being undertaken on Avalon Road, Krambach, along a 2km stretch between Fire Station Road and Paterson Lane.
The scope of the reconstruction project, which will commence at the beginning of March 2020, includes culvert replacements, rehabilitating and realigning the existing road pavement, widening the road, and upgrading the Mill Street intersection. It is expected the project will continue over 4 months, with completion early July, weather-permitting.
The work is being carried out under traffic control between 7am and 5pm, Mondays to Saturdays. One lane will be closed to through-traffic while crews are on site and reduced speed limits will remain in place for the duration of the works. Motorists are asked to observe all signage and directions from crews, and to travel with caution in and around the area.
With a focus on improved safety, the outcome will include:
- A wider road, with a smoother, safer driving surface
- Durability and reduced on-going maintenance costs
- An improved intersection with Mill Street
- Improved line of sight distances at Mill Street and Firefly Road intersections
- Improved drainage
The reconstruction of Avalon Road is funded by the NSW Government in association with Council as part of the $100M Road Upgrade package, and is one of 25 road improvement projects to roll out between 2018 and 2022.
