Event equipment available to hire

Organising a major community event is about to get a little bit easier, with specialised equipment available soon for hire from MidCoast Council.

This equipment will be purchased to support local community groups to deliver consistent and high standard events across the MidCoast region.

Last November, Council resolved to acquire dedicated event equipment, including Hi-Vis vests, bollards, barrier boards, traffic signs and traffic cones, as well as a storage facility to house it in, using existing budget allocations to fund the purchases.

“The introduction of this stock and a sliding fee scale will help event organisers to access the equipment they need to deliver high quality events in our community,” explained Robyn Brennan, MidCoast Council’s Coordinator of Economic Development and Events.

“The events equipment hire program will be trialled for a 12 month period but prior to that the hire fees are being placed on public exhibition to give the public a chance to provide feedback,” added Robyn.

Councillors agreed this is a great opportunity for MidCoast Council to support community events that make a positive and ongoing contribution to the community’s wellbeing, cultural life and environmental sustainability.

While the equipment hire program will be primarily for supporting community events run by organisations which are not-for-profit entities or have their event endorsed by a not-for-profit entity, other event organisers will be considered on a case-by-case basis in terms of overall community benefit.

The hire fees will be placed on public exhibition on Wednesday 9 January and community feedback is welcome and encouraged.

The MidCoast region hosts a range of fantastic community events and this equipment will be available to benefit long-running events and attract new events to the area.
