Council Services - Christmas / Summer holidays

Christmas on the beach

MidCoast Council provides essential services over the Christmas holiday period to ensure residents and holiday makers continue to enjoy our beautiful region.

All waste collections continue to operate as normal - but please put your bins out the night before - as collection times may vary. You can check bin collection days for your street here.

Emergencies

For emergencies between the close of business (COB) on Friday 21 December until Wednesday 2 January, please call 4422 2229.

For water and sewerage service faults and emergencies, call our 24-hour emergency number 1300 133 455

Our other non-essential services do have some closures over the Christmas break, especially between Friday 21 December until Wednesday 2 January. Please see below for closure details: 


Council offices

Council's offices will be closed from COB on Friday 21 December and reopen on Wednesday 2 January.



Service NSW and Department of Human Services Agencies (Gloucester Council office)

Service NSW Gloucester Agency will be closed from COB Friday 21 December and will reopen on Wednesday 2 January. For information during this time visit service.nsw.gov.au.

The Department of Human Services Gloucester Agency will be closed from COB Friday 21 December and will reopen on Wednesday 2 January. You can still use your myGov account to access your online accounts. You can also use Express Plus mobile apps (Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support) and phone self service during the holiday period. For more information visit humanservices.gov.au.



Landfills & recycling    

All Landfills and Waste Transfer Stations in the MidCoast Council area will be closed on Tuesday 25 December.

Gloucester Landfill will also be closed on Wednesday 26 December 2018 and Tuesday 1 January 2019.

Excess domestic recycling is accepted without charge at any of Council’s Landfills or Transfer Stations.



Visitor Information Centres

All Visitor Information Centres will be closed on Christmas Day.

Forster - Open 9am to 2pm on Boxing Day

Gloucester - Closed on Boxing Day

Taree - Open 10am to 2pm on Boxing Day

Libraries

All MidCoast Libraries will be closed from COB Friday 21 December, reopening as per normal branch hours from Wednesday 2 January. Check your normal branch hours here.

No returns will be required during the closure period.



Swimming pools

Council swimming pools at Gloucester, Krambach, Nabiac, Bulahdelah, Tea Gardens, Tuncurry and Stroud will be closed:

  • Christmas day only Tuesday 25 December.

Please check with YMCA operators for pools at Forster (Great Lakes Aquatic Centre), Taree (Manning Aquatic Centre) and Wingham Memorial Swimming Pool.



Manning Regional Art Gallery

The Gallery will be open as per its regular opening hours throughout the holiday period. Check the Gallery's opening hours here.



Manning Entertainment Centre

The MEC Box Office will be closed from Wednesday 19 December until Monday 7 January 2019.

The MEC office will be closed from Friday 21 December until Monday 7 January 2019.



Cemeteries - Burials

Restricted Burial Services will apply from COB Friday 21 December 2018 up to and including Monday 7 January 2019, as follows:

There will be no services from Saturday 22 December - Wednesday 26 December 2018 inclusive.

Services not before 12 noon on the following dates:

  • Thursday 27 December
  • Friday 28 December

There will be no services from Saturday 29 December - Tuesday 1 January 2019 inclusive.

Services not before 12 noon on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 2 January
  • Thursday 3 January
  • Friday 4 January
  • Monday 7 January.

Normal services will resume on Tuesday 8 January 2019.

Contact the ‘On-Call’ Cemetery Officer  on 0427 104 798 for all arrangements over the holiday season PRIOR TO SUBMITTING BURIAL APPLICATIONS.

Notice Required for Grave Digging Requests - a minimum of 48 hours.  However additional notice is greatly appreciated during this period to confirm arrangements.
