Celebrating a creepy-crawly classic

Published on 15 May 2018

Preschoolers across the MidCoast are in for a special treat when MidCoast Libraries hold special storytime sessions to celebrate the children's classic "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" from next week.

The Manning Entertainment Centre brings us The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show in two sessions on Wednesday 27 June, and MidCoast Libraries and the Manning Regional Art Gallery will celebrate at libraries across the region from Monday 28 May until Monday 18 June.

Come along to a Preschool Storytime session devoted to the Very Hungry Caterpillar, followed by a special craft activity presented by the Manning Regional Art Gallery and yummy morning tea.

The Manning Entertainment Centre will also be giving away a free family pass to the Very Hungry Caterpillar Show, and anyone that attends one of our special Preschool Storytime sessions will go in the draw.

"We're having lots of fun celebrating this much loved children's book by Eric Carle, which was first published in 1969 and has since then sold over 30 million copes around the world" says Library Events Officer, Danielle Donnelly. "Many of us remember this story from our own childhoods."

"We're excited to be working alongside our colleagues from the Art Gallery and the MEC, to bring this very special celebration to a new generation of children across the MidCoast."

Sessions will be held at: Gloucester Library - 10am Monday 28 May, Harrington Library - 10.30am Thursday 31 May, Stroud Library - 10.30am Friday 1 June, Wingham Library - 10.30am Monday 4 June, Forster Library - 10.30am Wednesday 6 June, Taree Library - 10.30am Thursday 7 June, Hallidays Point Library - 10.30am Friday 8 June, and Tea Gardens Library - 9.30am Monday 18 June.

There's no cost to attend, and no need to book in, just turn up at a library near you to enjoy a very special storytime. See you at the Library!
