While several other Council facilities, including the Taree Airport terminal, have now closed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic – the community is reminded they can continue to do business on the phone or online.
The cancellation of flights by Air Pelican on Thursday has resulted in a closure of the terminal, however the airport does remain open for general aviation and car hire agencies.
Also closed are Council operated showgrounds, Council owned and managed free camping areas, parks, playgrounds, visitor information centres, libraries and customer service centres.
“We will continue to monitor the situation locally and heed the advice and updates from both State and Federal Governments, as well as the Office of Local Government, as the situation progresses,” said MidCoast Council’s General Manager, Adrian Panuccio.
Mr Panuccio reminded the community that while Council facilities have closed, the Customer Service team remain active and available for assistance over the phone.
“Members of the community will be able to continue to do business with us via phone, email and online services and we have plenty of staff on hand to assist and talk you through any queries you may have.”
Other closures and suspensions of council services include:
- all Council owned pools, including the YMCA operated facilities in Taree, Forster and Wingham
- the Manning Entertainment Centre
- the Manning Regional Art Gallery
- Council owned halls and facilities are no longer available to hire
- the annual bulky waste collections have also been suspended
Essential services such as water provision, sewer services, road maintenance and rubbish collection will continue.
