Community Conversations Forster April 2019 (8).jpg

Our draft communications and community engagement strategies outline our approach to connecting with you, and they’re currently open for feedback.

Whether it’s by delivering information to keep you updated, or through conversations that help us understand your priorities, we value the opportunity to communicate and engage in the ways and places that work for you. Effective communication and community engagement are integral to building meaningful relationships that will help us deliver on your needs and aspirations.

Both strategies have been drafted based on feedback you’ve provided on our approach to communications and engagement over the past three years. Once you’ve reviewed the draft documents (attached right, or in hard copy at one of our Customer Service Centres) you can provide input on either or both strategies by completing the submission form/s below.

Email and postal submissions are also accepted.

Effective communication means our community will be well-informed about the range of services we offer, and kept updated on what’s happening at Council, across the region, and in our local communities. It may be information we provide to you in your letterbox, via local newspapers or on radio, or facilitating access to information in our Customer Service Centres or on our website.

When reviewing the draft Communications Strategy, think about:

  • The communications channels you use most
  • How and where would you like to receive information from us
  • What type of information is important to you
  • How often you would like to hear from us

Submissions can be made before 4.30pm on Friday 14 June:

  • by completing the online form below
  • by emailing council@midcoast.nsw.gov.au
  • by mail, addressed to the General Manager, MidCoast Council, PO Box 450, Forster NSW 2428

When making your submission, please include the submit code “Communications Strategy”, and provide your postal address.

We engage with our community regularly to gauge your ideas and opinions, and to understand your priorities, as part of our decision-making process. The way we consult with you will depend on the subject of the engagement, but it could be via a customer survey, a drop-in session, an interactive workshop, or in a more formal face-to-face meeting.

When reviewing the draft Community Engagement Strategy, think about:

  • How you like to share your thoughts with us
  • Whether the purpose of an engagement activity is always clear
  • What times and places suit you in order to participate
  • How often you would like to be involved, and on what subjects
