The continued connection of the Biripi people to the land is represented in this work “Connected”, created by Biripi woman and artist Raechel Saunders.
Raechel’s work tells the story of the Aboriginal people who have gathered on their country for generations and have a continuing connection to the land, to Country.
Her work represents her people coming together as one, travelling across country and meeting together.
It reflects connection with the mountains when the season calls for it, and to the seas when the right wind blows.
It signifies the Aboriginal connection to the mountains, river and the sea and all they provide in a physical and spiritual sense. It tells of connection to each other and connection to the land.

We deliver benefits for our community in a way that adds value and builds trust.
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and live, the Gathang-speaking people and pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who now reside in the MidCoast Council area. We extend our respect to elders past and present, and to all future cultural-knowledge holders.
