David West

Mayor of MidCoast Council

David West has called the MidCoast home since 1987 and has spent more than 24 of those years representing his community as a Councillor, Deputy Mayor and now Mayor.

Prior to this, David’s working life began through a partnership with his brother in a combined service station, earthmoving and plant hire business.

He would later join the NSW Police Force thanks to a desire to serve the wider community, but was medically discharged after being hurt while on duty.

His community service aspirations prevailed and he began dedicating time to volunteer with the St John Ambulance Brigade and Surf Life Saving.

He has also been a member of Cundletown Soldiers Memorial Hall Committee and served as its President for five years.

David’s passion has always been for his family and community service and he has been honoured to be MidCoast Council’s inaugural Mayor.

David was re-elected as Mayor on 25 September 2019.
