Business events & workshops

We're committed to helping you grow your business here on the MidCoast.

Watch this space for details of upcoming events and workshops designed to boost your business.

Grant Writing Workshops

Accessing grants can provide big boosts for community groups, event organisers and businesses and provide long lasting benefits for MidCoast communities. Free workshops across the MidCoast in February and March are designed to help groups and businesses write winning grant applications.

The workshops will assist participants to identify funding opportunities, learn terms and jargon specific to grant applications, and provide some tips to help you hone your ideas to produce a winning application.

Kerry Grace from regionally-based business, the Evolve Network will lead the workshops, with a focus on working alongside regional communities, not for profits, councils, Aboriginal Corporations and community groups to create positive outcomes for the MidCoast community.

The grant writing workshops are an initiative of MidCoast Council and are funded by the NSW Government through the Bushfire Community Resilience and Economic Recovery Grant.

Workshops will be held across the region, kicking off in Wingham on Wednesday 3, Gloucester on Thursday 4 and Tea Gardens on Friday 5 February. There will be a choice of day or evening workshops offered in Forster on 2 and 3 March, and in Taree on 3 and 4 March. A full day workshop will also be held at Elands on Monday 1 March.

Free creative businesses workshop

If you are an advertising or marketing business, architect, graphic designer, visual or performance artist or an arts society or group, you are invited to register for a free workshop in 2021.

The workshops are led by creative practitioners with extensive business skills and aim to assist local creative businesses in developing business plans to ‘futureproof’ their operation, thanks to MidCoast Council and NSW Government funding.

The workshop will be held over two days, and covers a range of great planning tools and ideas to support your business whether you are established or just starting up.

The workshop will be facilitated by ‘Creative Plus Business’ founded by Monica Davidson, a social enterprise dedicated to educating creative people and arts organisations about business skills. As Monica says “we will cover the basics of business, as well as deeper dives into entrepreneurship, financial literacy, marketing, and overcoming the challenges of sustaining and growing a creative business”.

It is a real coup to bring The ‘Creative Plus Team’ to the MidCoast region to support our local creative businesses. The coaching will improve the base knowledge and capacity of local business operators to undertake this type of planning independently and will support the work Council and the local business chambers currently undertake.

This workshop is proudly funded by the NSW Government Bushfire Community Resilience and Economic Recovery Fund, and supported by MidCoast Council.

The two-day workshop will take place at the Manning Entertainment Centre in Taree on Monday 22 February and Monday 8 March from 9.30am until 4.30pm. Bookings are essential and can be made before 8 February 2021 via the online form below:
