Contractor, Pacific Blue Metal will be undertaking asphalt overlay works on Combined and Dennes Streets in Wingham from Monday 18 September.

The works will start at the Dennes Street and Farquhar Street roundabout, continuing through to the Combined Street and Wynter Street intersection to link with the existing asphalt surface in front of Wingham Memorial pool.

“This is great news for local motorists, with the end result providing a durable, weatherproof surface that provides for a far smoother and safer ride”, explained Ron Hartley, MidCoast Council’s Director of Engineering and Infrastructure Services.

The works will predominantly be carried out during the day under traffic control, and clearly marked detours will be in place as required to minimise disruption to traffic.  “Motorists are asked to observe all signage and directions from road crews, and to travel with care through the area” says Ron Hartley.

To complete the project nightworks will be undertaken on Monday 25 September, with the final asphalt seal being applied at the busy Combined Street and Primrose Street intersection. Crews will be on site from approximately 6pm.

“We are trying to minimising disruption to local residents, who will have driveway access at all times, however on-street parking won’t be available for the duration of these works” says Ron Hartley.

This project is part of MidCoast Council’s $30 million Roadcare Program and its commitment to improving infrastructure throughout the region.
