Come and celebrate National Family History Month at MidCoast Council Taree Library, from 17 August and learn how to trace your family history.
Taree Library are partnering with the Manning Wallamba Family History Society to celebrate National Family History Month by holding workshops on a number of topics like genealogy, family history, heraldry and other related subjects. These workshops are designed to assist interested community members to research their family history.
“We’re lucky to have an ongoing partnership with the Manning Wallamba Family History Society in presenting these information workshops. It provides the opportunity for community members to develop their family history research skills” says Danielle Donnelly, MidCoast Councils Library Events Officer.
The free workshops, to be held in Taree library, will commence on Thursday 17 August, 1-4pm with a ‘finding convicts’ session, followed by the Manning Wallamba Family History Society’s 32nd Birthday celebrations on Saturday 19 August at 11am. The final workshop, ‘DNA and your family’ will take place on Saturday 26 August 11am and will provide valuable insight into tracing family history.
Outside the workshops, members of the Manning Wallamba Family History Society will be readily available at Taree Library to assist people with family and local history inquiries. Drop in between 10am and 12.30pm from Monday 21 - Saturday 26 August to chat with them about your family history project.
“Anyone who has an interest in researching their own family history will really benefit from these workshops and are encouraged to participate” says Danielle.
These workshops are free, however booking must be made at www.midcoastlibraries.com.au/Events
