Council Services - Christmas holidays

Christmas on the beach

MidCoast Council provides essential services over the Christmas holiday period to ensure residents and holiday makers continue to enjoy our beautiful region.

All waste collections continue to operate as normal - but please put your bins out the night before - as collection times may vary.

Visitor Information Centre staff and volunteers operate on reduced hours, please check details below.

The Manning Regional Art Gallery is opening on its regular hours throughout the holidays, please see below for details.

Emergencies

For emergencies between 1pm on Friday 22 December until Tuesday 2 January, please call 6591 7222 and follow the message prompts.

For Water Service difficulties and emergencies, call our 24-hour emergency number: 1300 133 455.

Our other non-essential services do have some closures over the Christmas break, especially between Friday 22 December - Tuesday 2 January. Please see below for closure details: 


Council Offices

Council’s offices at Taree, Forster, Tea Gardens, Stroud and Gloucester, and MidCoast Water Services Offices (at Taree and Forster) will close:

  • at 1pm (12pm for Stroud) on Friday 22 December and reopen on Tuesday 2 January.


Service NSW and Department of Human Services Agencies (Gloucester Council Office)

Service NSW will be closed from 1pm on Friday 22 December and will reopen on Tuesday 2 January.  For information during this time visit service.nsw.gov.au

The Department of Human Services Agency will be closed from 1pm Friday 22 December and will reopen on Tuesday 2 January.

You can still use your myGov account to access your online accounts. You can also use Express Plus mobile apps (Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support) and phone self service during the holiday period.

Taree: Saturday 23 – 9am to 4pm / Sunday 24 - CLOSED / Monday 25 – CLOSED  / Tuesday 26 - 9am to 4pm / Sunday 31 – 9am to 4:30pm / Monday 1 January - 9am - 4pm.

Forster: Sunday 24 - 9am to 4pm / Monday 25 - CLOSED / Tuesday 26 - 9am to 4pm / Sunday 31 - 9am to 4pm / Monday 1 January - 9am - 4pm.

Tea Gardens: Sunday 24 - 9am to 4pm / Monday 25 - CLOSED / Tuesday 26 - 9am to 4pm / Sunday 31 - 9am to 4pm / Monday 1 January - 9am - 4pm.

Bulahdelah: Sunday 24 - CLOSED / Monday 25 - CLOSED / Tuesday 26 - 9am to 4pm / Sunday 31 - CLOSED / Monday 1 January - 9am - 4pm.

Pacific Palms: Sunday 24 - 10am - 4pm / Monday 25 - CLOSED / Tuesday 26 - 10am to 4pm / Sunday 31 - 10am to 4pm / Monday 1 January - 10am - 4pm.

Gloucester: Sunday 24 - 9am - 1pm / Monday 25 - CLOSED / Tuesday 26 - CLOSED / Sunday 31 -9am - 1pm / Monday 1 January - 10am - 2pm.



Landfills & recycling

All Landfills and Waste Transfer Stations in the MidCoast Council area are closed on Monday 25 December.

Gloucester Landfill will also be closed:

  • from 12pm on Friday 22 December

  • all day on Tuesday 26 December

  • all day on Monday 1 January.

Tea Gardens Waste Transfer Station will open an extra day, on Saturdays from 8am -12pm, from 23 December - 27 January. 

Excess domestic recycling is accepted without charge at any of Council’s Landfills or Transfer Stations.



Swimming pools

Council swimming pools at Gloucester, Krambach, Nabiac, Bulahdelah, Tea Gardens, Tuncurry and Stroud will be closed:

  • Christmas day only Monday 25 December.

Please check with YMCA operators for pools at Forster (Great Lakes Aquatic Centre), Taree (Manning Aquatic Centre) and Wingham Memorial Swimming Pool.



Manning Regional Art Gallery

The Gallery will be open as per its regular opening hours throughout the holiday period. Check the Gallery's opening hours here.



Libraries

Taree, Forster, Gloucester, Tea Gardens, Stroud, Nabiac, Hallidays Point, Harrington, Old Bar and Wingham Libraries will be:

  • closed from 1pm on Friday 22 December (12pm for Stroud branch), reopening as per normal branch hours from Tuesday 2 January. Check your normal branch hours here
