Be part of the vision for MidCoast's future

Where do we want to be? How will we get there? How can you help?
MidCoast Council has been listening to what the community wants for the future and formulated a draft Community Strategic Plan – MidCoast 2030: shared vision, shared responsibility.
MidCoast 2030: shared vision, shared responsibility, is on public exhibition from 8 January – 23 February, and the community is being asked to check out the plan and have their say.
“This plan will guide MidCoast Council into the future and provide a platform that will be built on with specific actions in our four year delivery program and our annual operational plan. These documents will provide much more detail on the specific actions which will achieve the aspirations of our community,” MidCoast Council’s Director of Community Spaces and Services, Paul De Szell explained.
There will be a number of ways the community can find out more and provide feedback on the plan, such as taking part in an online survey, visiting a pop up at local events and markets, hosting a community conversation and more – all of which can be accessed here.
“We want our community to tell us if our draft plan has ‘hit the mark’ in reflecting the vision of the community.”
The plan outlines five broad values that reflect the MidCoast community vision. These values have been used to frame objectives and strategies in the plan. They are:
- We value our unique, diverse and culturally rich communities
- We value a connected community
- We value our environment
- We value our thriving and growing economy
- We value leadership and shared vision
Community members on social media can also keep an eye out for a number of short videos to be posted on Council’s Facebook page over the coming weeks. These videos have been developed as a way to start conversations on the plan and its key values – people can watch, comment on and share with friends.
“Although Council takes responsibility for leading the process by developing the Community Strategic Plan, the plan belongs to the whole community and everyone has a role to play in moving towards our vision,” Mr De Szell said.
The MidCoast 2030: shared vision, shared responsibility consultation paper and details of how members of the community can have their say can be found here.
