MidCoast Council is holding consultations on a planning proposal and agreement which will see the rezoning of two hectares of land for development, and 60 hectares for dedication of ecologically significant land at Pacific Palms.

Planning Proposal

The planning proposal is to rezone approximately two hectares of land adjoining the Palms Oasis Caravan Park to permit a reasonable level of development; and separate an existing dwelling site from adjoining ecologically sensitive land.  This involves amendment  to the Great Lakes Local Environmental Plan 2014 - Land Use Zone, Minimum Lot Size and Floor Space Ratio map layers affecting land adjoining the Palms Oasis Caravan Park, Pacific Palms.

Location: Lot 1 DP 653396, Lot 83 DP 753168 & Lot 427 DP 861736 The Lakes Way, Pacific Palms.

Details: The amendments to Great Lakes LEP 2014 will enable:

• Subdivision of Lot 427 DP 861736 to excise a site for of approx. 1.5ha an existing dwelling house, ancillary structures and bush fire asset protection areas;

• Subdivision of Lot 83 DP 753168 to excise a site of approx. 2ha for the expansion and bush fire asset protection of development at the adjoining Palms Oasis Caravan Park;

• Permanent protection of approx. 60ha of remaining ecologically significant land on Lot 1 DP 653396, Lot 83 DP 753168 & Lot 427 DP 861736 The Lakes Way, Pacific Palms

Planning Agreement

The planning agreement attached to the proposal will facilitate the dedication of approximately 60 hectares of ecologically sensitive land to MidCoast Council with the provision of funding for the rehabilitation, management and permanent protection of these lands. Council proposes to enter into a planning agreement with INA Operations Pty Ltd to which is on public exhibition with the Planning Proposal.

Details: The Planning Agreement will facilitate the dedication of approximately 60 hectares of ecologically significant land to MidCoast Council with funding to facilitate rehabilitation, management and protection in perpetuity.

Delegations: The Minister for Planning has delegated the making of this plan to Council.

The documents are on public exhibition from Wednesday 18 October until Friday 24 November, with a community drop-in session planned for Thursday 2 November at the Pacific Palms Community Hall. Residents are invited to drop-in any time between 3pm and 6pm to discuss the proposal with Council officers.
